Must Watch: Jim Jordan And Stacey Plaskett Clash Over Twitter Files
I think we are all more-than aware that Democrats and big tech companies are on a mission to censor the truth about their political corruption and collusion. The recent Twitter Files hearings are all the proof we need. During the hearings, Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan and Democratic Virgin Islands Rep. Stacey Plaskett clashed over the testimony of journalists Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger, who revealed details of the FBI’s alleged ties to Twitter.
Jordan pointed to the Federal Trade Commission’s letter demanding that journalists with access to Twitter’s records be publicly named, and noted that “they’re both Democrats” and “here to tell us the truth.” But Plaskett accused Republicans of promoting a false narrative and said that Twitter CEO Elon Musk is helping the party “politically”.
Jordan responded, “You don’t want people to see what happened. The full video, transparency. You don’t want that, and you don’t want two journalists who have been named personally by the Biden administration in a letter. They say they’re here to help and tell their story, and frankly, I think they’re brave individuals for being willing to come after being named in a letter from the Biden FTC.”
The tension between the two representatives was palpable as Plaskett demanded the hearing proceed and Jordan countered, “Oh now we want to get on with it, so you can say all the things you want and not put out the facts.”
Taibbi testified that he released the first batch of the Twitter Files in early December to detail Twitter’s alleged role in suppressing the New York Post’s Hunter Biden laptop story. He also disclosed how the FBI warned Twitter of a potential “hack-and-leak” by “state actors” surrounding the laptop story to influence the 2020 presidential election. Shellenberger disclosed that the FBI paid Twitter nearly $3.5 million between October 2019 and February 2021 to compensate for the time employees managed the agency’s requests.
The FBI called the Twitter Files an attempt to “discredit the agency” by disclosing its correspondence with Twitter in the lead-up to the election, in a Dec. 21 statement, but it's obvious that Democrats and big tech companies are trying to cover up their political corruption and collusion.
It's time for lawmakers to stand up and fight against this blatant censorship and call out the Democrats’ political corruption. We must demand transparency and hold these big tech companies and the Biden administration accountable.
We need to support brave journalists like Taibbi and Shellenberger who are willing to tell the truth in the face of suppression. And we must also take action against the DOJ’s use of its power to target Americans for their political beliefs.
This is a critical moment in our nation’s history and we must stand up for our freedom of speech. We can’t allow the Democrats and big tech companies to get away with silencing the truth. We must speak out and demand that our elected leaders take action to protect free speech and put an end to political corruption.
