Schumer Discusses Shutdown Decisions
It’s not breaking news, but it is a familiar headline: Chuck Schumer is lying — again. And this time, it’s about taxpayer-funded healthcare for illegal immigrants and the government shutdown he insists is somehow all the Republicans’ fault.
Schumer, with his usual polished spin, claimed Democrats “have no interest” in putting taxpayers on the hook for healthcare for non-citizens. But let’s not pretend this is a new talking point. It’s the same line that’s been trotted out every time Democrats are caught advancing policies that, in practice, do exactly the opposite of what they say.
Yes to ballrooms. No to healthcare for Americans. Got it. pic.twitter.com/HgBvO1i0Ff

So what’s the reality? Let’s start with the fact that progressive lawmakers — many of whom sit squarely within Schumer’s own party — have long advocated for healthcare coverage for illegal immigrants. From sanctuary city policies that extend municipal healthcare services, to state-level proposals backed by national Democrats that would fund public insurance programs for undocumented residents, the paper trail is impossible to ignore. Yet Schumer pretends these initiatives don’t exist when it’s politically convenient.
The senator also attempted to draw a bizarre equivalence in the media this week, suggesting that Republican concerns about runaway spending were misplaced when compared to other “unrelated” projects — one of which, he claimed, was still being funded amid the shutdown.
That’s how privately-funded works, Chuck

But here’s the part Schumer left out — and it’s not hidden in a footnote, it’s right there in the subhead of the original article: The $200 million construction project he referenced is privately funded. It’s not tied to federal dollars. It’s completely unaffected by the shutdown. A minor detail? Maybe to Schumer, but it blows up the entire comparison.
The omission wasn’t accidental. It was convenient. Schumer’s strategy is to throw out just enough misdirection that casual observers might not catch the trick. But it's a tired tactic — one that assumes voters won’t bother to check the facts.
Trump is paying for the ballroom out of pocket. Illegals aren’t Americans. When was the last time you told the truth about anything?

We’re barely 24 hours into the shutdown, and already the political theater is in full swing. The only thing more predictable than Schumer’s misstatements is the mainstream media’s willingness to amplify them without scrutiny.
