Months after the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie gripped national attention, a troubling development has emerged from the investigation.
According to reporting from CNN, law enforcement sources have confirmed the existence of a second ransom communication allegedly sent by the individuals responsible for abducting the 84-year-old mother of NBC "Today" host Savannah Guthrie. The note reportedly claims that Nancy Guthrie died while being held captive.
The revelation marks a grim turn in a case that has remained unresolved since the Arizona woman vanished in early February.
CNN reported that media organizations first received a ransom note shortly after the alleged kidnapping. That initial message demanded millions of dollars. A later communication, however, carried a far more disturbing claim. According to the report, the authors stated that Guthrie had died after being taken hostage and asserted that her death was not intentional.
