Trump Admin Gives Statement Deadline
Alright, folks, buckle up, because the Biden-era nonsense is officially over, and the Trump administration is making it crystal clear: if Maine wants to keep ignoring federal law and letting biological males dominate girls’ sports, there will be consequences.
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) just put Maine’s education officials, the state’s athletic association, and Greely High School on notice—comply with Title IX, or face federal enforcement. And if they still refuse? Well, the U.S. Department of Justice might just have to step in and remind them who’s in charge.
Let’s rewind a bit. This all kicked off when a biological male took home the victory in Maine’s Class B girls’ track and field championship in February. That’s right—a high school boy, competing on the girls’ team, snatched a title that should have gone to a female athlete. The problem? Trump’s executive order explicitly prohibits this from happening. But instead of following the law, Maine officials proudly declared they weren’t going to comply.

Now, HHS’s Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has ruled that Maine’s Department of Education, the Maine Principals’ Association (MPA), and Greely High School have violated federal law—specifically Title IX, which was designed to protect women’s sports, not dismantle them.
Acting OCR Director Anthony Archeval didn’t mince words, saying, “Girls deserve girls-only sports without male competitors,” and if Maine refuses to comply, “HHS will enforce Title IX to the fullest extent permitted by the law.” Translation? Follow the rules, or say goodbye to federal funding.
But instead of acknowledging reality, the MPA is digging in, arguing that they don’t have to follow Title IX because most of their money comes from ticket sales and sponsorships. It’s a weak argument at best, and a desperate one at worst. They’re basically saying, Sure, we get some federal money, but not a lot, so maybe the law doesn’t apply to us. Spoiler alert: that’s not how it works.
The MPA is now pushing for a “debate” in the Maine legislature, but let’s be honest—there’s nothing to debate. The law is clear. Trump’s executive order is clear. Title IX is clear. Women’s sports exist for women, and no amount of legal gymnastics can change that fact.
And let’s talk about Trump’s executive order for a second, because it’s exactly the kind of leadership this country needs. The “Keeping Men out of Women’s Sports” order wasn’t just about competition—it was about protecting women’s safety, fairness, dignity, and truth. It ensures that female athletes aren’t forced to compete against biological males, or share locker rooms with them. It also directs federal departments to pull funding from any education programs that fail to comply.
