Trump Comments On Incident In DC
Now this is the Trump we’ve seen before — the one who looks at a problem, decides it’s out of control, and makes it his. And right now, that problem is Washington, D.C., where violent crime has been surging, punishments are embarrassingly soft, and the leadership? Well, let’s just say they’re not exactly projecting competence.
NEW — Trump threatens to "FEDERALIZE" Washington D.C. in order to reign in "local 'youths' and gang members!"
"The Law in D.C. must be changed to prosecute these 'minors' as adults, and lock them up for a long time, starting at age 14." pic.twitter.com/4MJxZ5Wg2P

President Trump has had enough. After a Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) staffer was brutally beaten while trying to help a woman being attacked by a mob of teenagers — yes, a mob — Trump went on Truth Social and fired a warning shot at D.C. leadership: fix this, or I will. And just to make sure the message landed, he followed up at an impromptu press conference after signing an executive order for the 2028 Olympics, bluntly telling Mayor Muriel Bowser and the city council to “straighten their act out.”
The images of that DOGE employee after the attack, released by the White House Rapid Response team, are tough to look at — and they’re fueling a growing chorus of voices calling for serious action. One of those voices? Elon Musk, who once headed DOGE himself. He didn’t just weigh in — he outright endorsed Trump’s talk of federalizing the capital.
.@POTUS: "Somebody from @DOGE was very badly hurt last night... a young man who was beat up by a bunch of thugs in D.C. Either they're going to straighten their act out... or we're going to have to federalize and run it the way it's supposed to be run." https://t.co/Z6Ywr9oYYX pic.twitter.com/yhg9mRfDaF

And here’s the thing: Trump actually has tools at his disposal. D.C. isn’t just any city — it’s a federal district, meaning Congress has ultimate authority. But the president can deploy the National Guard, put federal law enforcement on the streets (think FBI, U.S. Marshals, ATF, Secret Service), and use every legal lever to clamp down on the chaos. And as if on cue, Jeanine Pirro just got Senate confirmation as D.C.’s top prosecutor — another signal that the administration is done playing nice.
This comes after a string of incidents that have rattled even the most jaded Washingtonians: a Republican intern shot dead in June while grabbing dinner, an out-of-control teen mob terrorizing Navy Yard in May, and now this savage beating of a federal staffer.
A few days ago, a gang of about a dozen young men tried to assault a woman in her car at night in DC.
A @Doge team member saw what was happening, ran to defend her and was severely beaten to the point of concussion, but he saved her.

Trump’s message couldn’t be clearer: the Nation’s Capital is a federal city, and if its Democrat leaders won’t act, he will. And if history is any guide, when Trump says he’s willing to use “every tool at his disposal,” you can bet he means it.
