Trump Officials Responds To Reporters Claim Following Video
It never fails. A shaky video hits social media, someone is being arrested, and the moment the suspect shouts “I’m not a criminal,” the reflex kicks in: anti-Trump Democrats and their media allies instantly crown him a victim. No facts, no context, just a narrative ready-made to feed the outrage machine.
BREAKING: Just saw DC Police + federal agents detain a man on the National Mall. He appeared to try to escape, then was quickly tackled to the ground by several agents + was screaming in Spanish “please, I’m not a criminal, I work here, I want to be with my family” @nbcwashington pic.twitter.com/56IlXEvYbN

That’s exactly what played out in D.C. this week. The clip showed officers taking down a man while he insisted on his innocence. Within minutes, the usual suspects were online, treating it like proof of authoritarian cruelty under Trump. Former ABC reporter Terry Moran scolded anyone who didn’t share his pearl-clutching: “Anyone who celebrates or takes joy in this is wrong. You are hurting our country, not saving it.” Fox News’ Jessica Tarlov chimed in with her own prepackaged talking point: “This doesn’t make D.C. safer. It’ll just make people not come to D.C. The cruelty is always the point.”
“The cruelty is the point,” she said. Except here’s the catch: it wasn’t.
I asked the agents what the man was being charged with, but they didn’t reply. I’ve also reached out to ICE for comment @nbcwashington

Because when the facts finally came out, the story unraveled in spectacular fashion. The man arrested wasn’t an unlucky bystander or an innocent worker, but someone charged in Fairfax County in 2024 with aggravated sexual battery against a child under 13. That’s right. While the Left was crying “police state,” officers were arresting a predator with a horrific record.
Suddenly the noble “victim” they were defending didn’t look so noble. Moran’s hand-wringing tweet aged like milk. Tarlov quietly deleted her post — but not before Trump adviser Stephen Miller called her out. Her response? A breathtaking attempt to spin her kneejerk defense into a complaint that DHS hadn’t given her the context fast enough.
Why are you defending a criminal illegal alien invader charged with sexually assaulting a child? https://t.co/5Iltgogny3

Think about that. The problem, in her view, wasn’t her reflexive rush to dunk on Trump, but the government’s failure to immediately spoon-feed her the details before she hit “post.” And in the same exchange, she went further, telling Miller she “hoped” every illegal alien arrested turned out just like the man she had just finished defending. Stunning.
This cycle is predictable now: clip goes viral → Left runs with it → narrative collapses → delete, deflect, repeat. The point isn’t truth, it’s politics. And if the facts contradict the story? All the better to blame someone else.
