Trump Posts Alleged Document In Possible Investigation On Social Media
Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA) is now facing a criminal referral to the Department of Justice over serious allegations of mortgage fraud tied to conflicting claims about his primary residence. According to a letter obtained by Fox News, the referral was submitted in May by William Pulte, Director of the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), and outlines repeated instances in which Schiff allegedly misrepresented a Maryland property as his primary residence while serving in Congress as a California representative.

The FHFA, which oversees Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks, stated in the letter that Schiff “falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms” from 2003 through 2019. These terms, backed by Fannie Mae, are generally reserved for borrowers who intend to use a property as their main residence. By designating the Potomac, Maryland home as a primary residence, Schiff and his wife secured a $610,000 mortgage at 5.625% over 30 years—terms that would have been less favorable if the home were classified as a secondary property.

What raises legal red flags is that Schiff continued to reaffirm this Maryland address as his primary residence in refinancing filings in 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013—all while holding elected office in California. Fox News obtained a 2011 affidavit in which Schiff signed under penalty of perjury that the Maryland home was his principal residence. This stands in direct contradiction to public statements made as recently as 2023, when a Schiff spokesperson declared that “Adam’s primary residence is Burbank, California, and will remain so when he wins the Senate seat.”

This discrepancy could carry significant legal implications. Mortgage fraud involving false declarations of primary residence can violate several federal statutes, including those prohibiting wire fraud, bank fraud, and false statements to financial institutions. The FHFA emphasized that such acts jeopardize the safety and soundness of federally backed lending institutions.

The issue is further complicated by Schiff’s political positioning. Local media has uncovered past footage of the senator affirming that California is—and always has been—his true home. This footage, juxtaposed with documented affirmations of the Maryland property as his primary residence, presents a clear conflict that may serve as critical evidence if a formal investigation proceeds.
Though Schiff has not yet responded in detail to the DOJ referral, his previous claims and filings are now under legal scrutiny.
