Trump Reveals What Most Media Won't Say About Somali Gangs
President Donald Trump took the stage in Youngstown, Ohio, to address a violent incident that shut down a high school football game. The event happened last week outside Eden Prairie High School in Minnesota. Two young men, ages 17 and 18, were shot in the parking lot during the game. They survived with non-life-threatening injuries.
Local police believe the attack was tied to rival Somali gangs. The stadium was evacuated immediately. The homecoming game was postponed. The principal canceled the homecoming dance the next night to respect the community trauma.

At the rally, the president did not hold back. He pointed directly to the situation in Minnesota. "Just look at what's happening in the once great state of Minnesota," Trump said. He described the shooting with blunt clarity. Two individuals were shot by brutal Somali gang members in the high school parking lot during a football game last week.
According to the Daily Wire, Trump made it clear that this behavior will not be tolerated. "This is not what we want in this country. We don't want this," he told the crowd. He argued that such violence drives up costs for everyone, stating that it inflates health care, insurance, and child care expenses while cheating on all matters.

President Trump is exactly right. Somaliland is not Somalia. Well past time for the United States to formally recognize it. https://t.co/wFgbHNF8gs

The White House confirmed the details of the arrest. According to a statement, Adam Abdihakeem Adam faced arrest for opening fire at a Minnesota suburban high school football game. According to reports, police suspect the shooting is linked to rival Somali gangs.
While discussing the violence, Trump drew a sharp line between Somalia and Somaliland. He told the crowd that Somaliland is "a totally different country" from Somalia. He criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar, calling her "a disaster" and noting she came "from a country" without law and order.
We’re partying like it’s 1999 in Somaliland!

Per Breitbart, Somaliland officials were quick to respond. Their Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a press release praising Trump. They stated the nation-state "has its own internationally defined border." The announcement also highlighted that it possesses a distinct constitution, a democratically elected government, and foreign relations.
President Abdiraham Mohamed Abdullahi of Somaliland spoke exclusively to Breitbart News. He described Trump as a "great man." Trump used the moment to warn voters about the consequences of a Democratic victory. He said if Democrats take control, "they will immediately reopen our borders." He warned that states might be overwhelmed by migrants originating from the world's most corrupt and dangerous places, such as Somalia.
He added that people there "think they're in Somalia, where they don't have pants to wear." Yet he noted they come to the US with "BMW and Mercedes" cars.
The United Arab Emirates, which has been locked in a deepening dispute with Somalia’s Federal Government, has reportedly transferred troops from Somaliland and Puntland to the UAE for advanced military training conducted by Israeli officers.
The troops are reportedly being trained in the use of drones and counter-drone defense systems as part of the UAE’s efforts to enhance their military capabilities.
Somalia’s Federal Government has repeatedly accused the UAE of establishing and supporting armed forces that could be used in a manner similar to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sudan, raising concerns over the potential implications for Somalia’s security and political stability.

Breitbart's Matthew Boyle reported that Somaliland "won formal recognition from" Israel in 2025. The country has fought to completely separate from Somalia due to corruption, terrorism, and piracy. The choice remains clear for voters: accept the current path or demand a change in how borders are managed.
