Hostin Comments About Trump Policy Raises Eyebrows
In a charged segment on ABC's The View Wednesday, co-host Sunny Hostin unleashed a blistering critique of Elon Musk, directly linking the billionaire entrepreneur to a humanitarian crisis she claims stemmed from federal spending cuts tied to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) — the Trump-era initiative Musk briefly helmed as a special government employee.
According to Hostin, Musk’s recommendations under DOGE led to widespread federal layoffs and slashed programs that disproportionately impacted global health outcomes. “He slashed 250,000 federal employees, more than 8,500 contracts, more than 10,000 grants,” Hostin said, adding, “his cutbacks on medical research cost the lives of — the foreign aid — cost 300,000 lives, mostly children.” Though she didn’t cite specific sources, her claims painted a dire picture of unintended consequences from aggressive budget tightening.

Musk’s tenure at DOGE — a Trump administration initiative designed to streamline the federal government and eliminate redundancy — was short-lived but influential. The goal was to root out inefficiency, waste, and overlapping bureaucracy. Supporters hailed it as a long-overdue rebalancing of the bloated federal system; critics, like Hostin, saw it as a hatchet job disguised as reform.
Hostin’s comments suggest that reductions in funding to medical research and foreign aid programs during this period led to disruptions in international health initiatives, potentially causing cascading effects in vulnerable regions, particularly among children reliant on vaccine programs, nutrition aid, and disease prevention efforts.

The conversation quickly pivoted into even more politically volatile territory. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg implied that Musk’s insider knowledge from within the Trump administration could be dangerous to the former president. “He knows the 411 on everything,” Goldberg said, a sentiment echoed by Joy Behar, who ominously suggested that Trump should be “afraid” of Musk — especially because “he has the receipts on the election, too.”
These remarks hint at deeper suspicions — or perhaps wishful insinuations — about Musk’s possible knowledge of Trump administration dealings, particularly around the 2024 election.
While there is no public evidence linking Musk to election-related activities beyond his DOGE role, the co-hosts were clearly riffing on the idea that Musk’s short-lived proximity to the Oval Office granted him access to sensitive information.
