Karen Bass Reveals Massive Chaos If Raman Wins LA Race
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass cast her vote Sunday and immediately issued a stark warning to voters. She told the New York Post that a win for rival Nithya Raman would bring "a tremendous amount of chaos." Bass sounded the alarm right after voting with her family at a YMCA in Koreatown.
The mayor focused her message on the police department. Raman has promised to fire LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell. Bass says this move would empty the ranks of an already short-staffed force. "I don't think she has a clue what it takes to get a police chief for the nation's second-largest city," Bass said.

Bass laid out a clear chain of events if Raman takes the oath of office. She argued that the moment Raman tries to replace the chief, officers will start walking out. "The minute she would initiate that, you will have officers leaving the department," Bass told reporters. She added that confusion sets in when cops do not know who is leading them.
This uncertainty could have consequences far beyond the city limits. Bass warned that a leadership vacuum might invite the federal government to step in. "I can only imagine Washington looking at that and saying, 'These people can't manage it. We need to come in,'" she said. She insists that Los Angeles can manage Los Angeles without outside help.
We’re aware of a video posted by a part-time staffer on his personal social media account commenting about the Michigan Senate race. The comments in it are reprehensible and do not reflect our campaign. We apologize. This staffer is no longer with the campaign.

While Bass attacked Raman's plan for the police, Raman's own campaign faced a fresh crisis Sunday. A part-time staffer named Eric Cheng posted a video on social media. Cheng asserted in the clip that a Michigan Senate candidate had "tried to brainwash a lot of the black vote." He said, "Turns out basically Haley tried to brainwash a lot of the black vote…"
Mayor Bass's allies sharply criticized the video. Political consultant Mike Trujillo, who backs the incumbent, shared the clip online. Raman's campaign moved quickly to distance themselves from the comments. They called the statements "reprehensible" and said they "do not reflect our campaign."
This isn’t even funny. Nithya Raman staffer posts a video where he claims Congresswoman Haley Stevens has “brainwashed” the black vote in Michigan.
Dude, what is it with your campaign and the constant ignorance of the African American community?
Can the campaign apologize or will this take 6 days too?
As for Haley Stevens, what she did was upsetting and wrong for a lot of Democrats, not sure why Nithya Raman’s campaign staffer needs to go after the African American community. Seriously chill out.

According to the New York Post, the campaign confirmed that Cheng was fired. The team posted on X, stating, "We're aware of a video posted by a part-time staffer on his personal social media account commenting about the Michigan Senate race." They added, "The comments in it are reprehensible and do not reflect our campaign. We apologize. This staffer is no longer with the campaign."
The election sets the stage for a battle over who can truly run the city. Bass frames the choice as one between local control and total disorder. She contends that a four-year term under Raman would bring chaos from day one. As the city readies for the 2028 Olympics, the race stays tight.
