Patricia Heaton Comments On North Carolina Recovery
Alright, folks, buckle up because this one is going to make your blood boil.
Actress Patricia Heaton is calling out FEMA and former Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for what can only be described as an outrageous betrayal of American citizens. And honestly, she’s got a point. While Americans in North Carolina, who lost their homes in Hurricane Helene, were left sleeping in tents, FEMA was busy shelling out $59 million to put illegal migrants up in luxury hotels in New York City.
Yes, you read that right. Not just motels or shelters—luxury hotels.
Heaton, who is never one to shy away from speaking her mind, took to X to call out this disaster of a situation after Elon Musk revealed the shocking numbers. According to Musk, his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) team uncovered that FEMA was spending tens of millions on migrant housing in NYC, all while telling hurricane victims in North Carolina that there wasn’t enough money to help them.
“So those poor folks in North Carolina who were told by Mayorkas there wasn’t enough money to help them had to sleep in tents all this time,” Heaton posted, echoing what every sane American is probably thinking right now.

Now, let’s rewind a bit. Back in October, Mayorkas told reporters that FEMA was running low on funds and might not make it through the season. That was months ago. Fast forward to January, and hurricane victims who had been staying in hotels under FEMA’s Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) program were kicked out when their vouchers expired. With below-freezing temperatures in the area, many were left with nowhere to go.
North Carolina’s Republican senators, Ted Budd and Thom Tillis, quickly stepped in, raising the alarm that FEMA was failing their own citizens. Budd took to X, blasting the agency for kicking people out of their hotels the same night FEMA announced they were extending the program through March.
"This is unacceptable. This needs to be fixed TONIGHT,” Budd wrote.
Meanwhile, Tillis noted that many people were being forced out into the cold, quite literally, with no plan B.
Now, FEMA is scrambling to clean up this mess, claiming that the housing program was extended until the end of March and that only those with a "habitable home" were removed from hotel stays. But let’s be real—how do they suddenly have money for migrants in luxury hotels while Americans are left in tents?
