The acronym—MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+—was delivered smoothly during her remarks, but online, it landed like a puzzle dropped into the middle of a conversation. The phrase expands on “Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls,” adding a range of identity groups including Two-Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, and asexual individuals, with the plus sign covering additional categories.
